Basic Nut Milk + "Clean" Vanilla Almond Butter Shake

Vanilla_Almond_Butter_Shake_TXT.png

If you haven't read the book, Clean Gut, I absolutely recommend it.  This book gives us insight to the root cause of disease vs. the "pill for an ill" mentality.  Included, is a gut repair program to feel better now and avoid disease in the future.  Even if you decide against the Clean Gut Program, there is a wealth of knowledge about your digestive system and how to build an awareness to your body's unique triggers.  I'll be trying it out next week, so you can expect some more info about my personal experience with the program!  Until then, I recommend the book to everyone!

One of the guiding principles in the book is to drink "a shake a day" to keep your health on track.  Recommended in the morning, these shakes include:

  • good saturated fats
  • quality proteins
  • water
  • easily digestible nutrients

As we mentioned in our Juicing 101 post, raw juice is an amazing supplement to a healthy diet, but not a complete meal.  However, these "clean breakfast shakes" can be used as a meal replacement or as part of a "clean" breakfast (we'll go more into what 'clean' meals are, next week).
